Meanwhile, Nikki was not having fun. She had arrived in London early this morning and was trying to find the inn that she would be staying at for the next few days. She came to this town for work. It was pathetic that she couldn’t even find her lodging considering her line of work. You see, Nikki wasn’t any normal traveler. She was a vampire hunter. She traveled from place to place taking care of vampires that were attacking humans. It was why she had even come to this city. Over the past few months there had been several mysterious deaths. All of the victims were found drained of all their blood and not a single drop was found at the scene.

Jonathan stepped up behind the young woman, who still hadn’t noticed him. “May I be of any assistance madam?” The young woman turned around quickly and blinked seeing him standing so close to her. “I do apologize if I frightened you.”

“Oh no, you just surprised me is all.” Nikki was more surprised she hadn’t known he was there. She always tried to be aware of her surroundings, not only because of vampires, but because it wasn’t always safe for a woman to travel by herself. Had she been so absorbed in looking for the inn that she had dropped her guard?

“I am glad.” He bowed to her. “You seemed to be having some trouble. May I be of some help?”

“Yes actually I would be grateful for some assistance.” She showed him the paper she had been clutching in her hand. “I’m trying to find this address. Do you happen to know it?”

Jonathan glanced at the sheet of paper. It was the address of one of the local inn in London. “Yes I do. It’s the address of one of the local inn correct?”

“Yes it is. I’m not sure why I can’t find it but I’m having an awful time trying to find it.”

“I’d be willing to show you where it is.” He offered. This young woman intrigued him. It wasn’t just her clothes that caught his interest now. She had an air about her that made her different than other women. She wasn’t docile or timid. It was a nice change of pace.

“You would?” That would save Nikki from wasting her time wandering around looking for it. Besides the fact she was starving; she hadn’t eaten since last night, and needed to find a place to eat soon.

“Yes. However, I do have one condition.” He held back a grin thinking of how he would win this woman over. She would make a fun plaything.

She tilted her head slightly. “What condition would that be sir?”

“That you have lunch with me.” Jonathan gave her a charming smile causing her cheeks to redden slightly. “I would very much enjoy getting to know such a beautiful woman better.”

She thought for a moment. It would be a good idea to go to lunch with him. She might be able to get some information on the victims. At least, that’s what she told herself. She did have an interest in this charming stranger, not that she would admit it to herself. “I’ll agree to go to lunch with you, Mr…?”

“Jonathan Christopher Depp. May I ask your name my lady?”

“My name is Nikki. It’s a pleasure to meet you sir.”

Jonathan gently took her hand and brushed his lips across her knuckles causing her cheeks to burn. He looked up at her and grinned seeing the delicious red adorning her cheeks. “The pleasure is all mine.” He stood up straight still holding her hand. “Miss Nikki, a very interesting name for a very interesting woman.”

“Thank you sir.” Nikki was not used to compliments. The only male she spent time with was her hunting partner Thomas and if he complimented her it was usually sarcastic. She thought of him as a brother, so Jonathan’s compliment was taking her by surprise.

Jonathan smiled and placed her hand on his bent elbow. “Now shall we go to lunch?” Nikki nodded and he led her down the street. He pointed out shops as they made their way down the street and Nikki made sure to remember everything he said to avoid getting lost again. After a few minutes of walking Jonathan stopped in front of the sole restaurant in town. “This is the place.” He opened the door and held it open. “After you my lady.”

“Thank you sir.” Nikki stepped in and he followed behind her.

The waiter greeted them as they entered the room. “Welcome. Where would you like to sit?”

“Anywhere expect near a window is fine.” Jonathan replied. The waiter nodded and led them to a table against a wall; away from the window. Jonathan pulled out one of the chairs. “My lady.”

Nikki smiled at him. “Thank you again.” She sat in the seat and Jonathan gently pushed it in for her before taking his own seat. This was all new to Nikki. She wasn’t used to being treated like a lady. Her partner treated her as just his partner. She had to admit it was a nice change. The waiter placed the menus in front of them before walking away. She picked up her menu and glanced though the food.

“Please order whatever you like, it’s my treat.” Jonathan offered already knowing what he was going to order so he ignored the menu.

Her head snapped up. “I couldn’t ask you to do that sir.”

“I wish to.” He threw another one of his charming smiles at her causing her cheeks to become pink again. “So please allow me to treat you.”

“If you’re sure.”

“I am.” Nikki nodded and looked at the menu again.

Jonathan grinned looking her over. Oh I am going to enjoy this.
