Forever Together (vampire!Johnny DeppxOC)Chapter 3

The doorman looked from Nikki to Jonathan as they stepped up in front of him. “Invitations?” The doorman wore a suit but it didn’t hide how muscular he was, perfect for throwing out people who tried to crash the party.

Jonathan stepped forward releasing Nikki’s arm. “Oh, I have them right here.” Jonathan reached into his jacket and made eye contact with the doorman. Out of Nikki’s view, Jonathan’s eye’s flashed red. “See, I have it right here.”

The doorman’s eyes dulled slightly. “Yes sir. Go right in.”

“Thank you.” Jonathan turned offering Nikki his arm. “Shall we my lady?” She smiled and took his arm. He led her inside the room where everyone was mingling together, drinking and talking to one another. Waiters moved between the guests with trays of wine and food. “Would you like some wine Miss Nikki?”

“Oh no thank you.” Nikki answered quickly. Honestly, she had a hard time holding her alcohol and got drunk far too easily. It would have been very bad for her to get drunk while she was supposed to be keeping an eye out for anyone suspicious. Also, she didn’t want Jonathan to see her in such a state.

“As you wish my lady.” Jonathan waved the waiter away. Wonder if she can’t handle drinking. Now Jonathan was curious about how she would act with alcohol in her system, but that could wait until another night. Tonight was about winning her over and having some fun. “Shall we dance then?”

Nikki smiled. “I would like that.” Jonathan smiled back and led her onto the dance floor as the next song started. He released her arm and rested one hand on the curve of her hip while taking her right hand in his. She placed her free hand on his shoulder. Jonathan then led her in the dance. The two swayed and spun to the music. Nikki was glad she was light on her feet so she wouldn’t embarrass herself.

“You are a wonderful dancer my dear.” Jonathan commented, giving her a charming smile.

“Thank you. So are you sir.” She answered smiling up at him. Jonathan spun the two of them and Nikki blinked at what she saw over his shoulder. It was her partner Thomas. However, what really surprised her was that he was dancing with someone. In all the time she had known him, she had never seen him with a woman this way. He, like her, spent all of his time hunting. Though, she supposed, that she was here in a real dress, so it wasn’t so odd that Thomas was spending time with someone in comparison. The girl he was dancing with was wearing a purple dress and had long brown hair. She was smiling with a pink blush on her cheeks. Hm, I guess Thomas can be charming. Who knew? Nikki giggled when she saw the young woman step on Thomas’s foot making him cringe lightly.

“Is something funny my dear?” Jonathan asked spinning the two of them again.

She shook her head. “It is nothing. A woman simply tripped over her dress.”

“Ah, that is rather amusing.”

“Mr Depp, may I ask you something?”

Jonathan spun her again causing her to smile. “Of course my lady.”

“It’s about those attacks you told me about earlier. Do they know if it was caused by an animal or a human?”

Jonathan pulled her closer placing his hand on her lower back causing her to blush. “I don’t believe they are certain as of yet. Why?”

“I was just curious. If young women are being targeted, I want to be careful. So I wish to know everything I can.”

“All that is known is that several women have been found around London. I would rather not talk about any of the grizzly details with a lady. However, I can say that they were all attacked by something.”

“That is horrible. Those poor women.”

“Yes it is horrible. It is why you should avoid walking around at night alone. I would happily be your escort at night.”

“Thank you sir, but I don’t want to impose on your kindness.”  Besides, she would have to search for vampires at night. It would be difficult to slip away from him if he was to escort her.

“Well, if I don’t escort you my dear, then you should be with that partner of yours.”

Nikki nodded. “Alright, I will. Thank you for the warning.”

“On a lighter note, you will be coming to see me tomorrow night, correct?” Tomorrow night Jonathan would be starring as Todd in The String of Pearls and had invited Nikki to attend, free of charge.

“Of course, I would not miss it for the world.”

“Good. Unfortunately, I will have to be there early for practice so I will not be able to escort you.”

“That is alright. I am meeting with my partner for lunch to talk about our work. Once I am done meeting him I will come to the show.” She smiled up at him. “I am very excited to see you act.”

“I will do my very best to impress you Miss Nikki.” Jonathan practically purred out the words making her cheeks flush. “I think I will be able to act my best knowing you are watching me.”

“I am sure your acting is amazing sir.”  

Jonathan spun her again. “Thank you my lady.” He dipped her letting his hand rub her back lightly, making her cheeks a dark red. “And thank you for coming with me tonight.” He stood them back up again swaying.

“It is my pleasure. I am having a lot of fun.”

“Are you a dancer my dear? You are very light on your feet.”

“No. I suppose it is from traveling so much.” And she did have to dodge vampires when they attacked. She had to be nimble. However, Nikki didn’t want to think about that tonight. Tonight she just wanted to be like any of the other women in the room and enjoy her night with her gentlemen caller.
