You sighed as you wrapped the bandage around the muscular arm. There was a long gash from the shoulder to the elbow. Thankfully it wasn't deep enough to damage any muscles, but it is still a nasty looking wound. "This is a really bad cut Dick."

"Penguin just got a lucky swing." The young man sitting on the couch next to you answered. His short black hair just brushed over his brow as his ice blue eyes watched you wrap the wound. "We still got him in the end."

"That's not the point, Dick." You ripped the end of the bandage and tied it around his arm. "You should be more careful. Bruce told you not to rush in. He and I were both there too. We could have easily taken Penguin and his men."

"You're starting to sound like Bruce." He mumbled under his breath.

You growled lightly as you stood up. "Maybe because we worry about you, you idiot." You storming out of the room, not bothering to look back to see what Dick's reaction was. How could he be so stubborn? Why couldn't he understand that you were just worried about him? You sighed again as you entered your room and walked over to your bed; laying down. As your eyes started to close, you thought back to how you ended up here.

It has been a little over a year since you met the dynamitic duo. The Joker had taken over a restaurant you were at with your parents. Another person in the restaurant stood up to the Joker, demanding that he left. Not surprisingly, not only did he not leave but he decided to open fire on the man. Screams filled the place, including yours, as you put your hands over your head and squeezed your eyes closed. You felt two pairs of arms wrap around you and pulled you to the ground. When the sound of gun shots finally faded, you slowly opened your eyes. You were laying on your back on the ground with two bodies laying on top of you.

"Mom? Dad?" Your parent's arms were wrapped around you tightly, protecting you from the hail of bullets.

"(Name). Are you okay?" Your mom asked softly, looking over your face.

"I'm fine! What about you?!" You noticed a trail of blood dripping down your dad's chin and started to panic. "Dad! You're hurt!"

"Be strong (Name). You're amazing. Mom and I are so proud of you." Your dad smiled weakly before he coughed hard, causing more blood to drip down his chin. His eyes slid shut and you felt his grip loosen.

"Dad!" You shook him but he didn't respond. Looking over to your mom, you saw her eyes starting to droop. "Mom! Mom stay awake!"

Your mom smiled at you. "Re-remember we will always love you." Her eyes slid closed and her body slumped.

"Mom!" Tears clouded your vision, making it hard for you to see the faces of your parents.

Insane laughter filled the room. "What a beautiful site! Almost brings a tear to my eye!" More laughter followed and the minions joined in. You whimpered as tears slipped down your cheeks. "This is going to be so much fun!"

"Too bad you won't be the one having the fun Joker." A deep voice said.

"There you are Bats!" Joker cheered. The sounds of fighting quickly filled the room.

You sighed as you opened your eyes, returning from that memory. It had been a while since you thought of that night. Bruce and Dick had easily subdued Joker and his men. You were rushed to the hospital, but thankfully you were unharmed thanks to your parents protecting you. The police interviewed you about what happened and found out that you didn't have any other family. To this day you don't know why, but Bruce offered to take you in. A few months after, you stumbled onto the secret door to the Batcave and learned their secret. Bruce was angry at first but Dick pointed out that there was nothing they could do now and that I probably wouldn't tell anyone the truth. You had promised that you wouldn't say anything but you wanted Bruce to train you. If you had been stronger, you could have protected your parents. At first he was surprised, but after a few days thinking it over, he agreed to train you. Since then, you've been helping the duo on their nightly missions.

There was a sharp knock on the door. "(Name) can I come in?"

You sat up from your bed. "Yeah, come in."

Dick opened the door and stepped into the room, shutting the door behind him. He was looking down instead of at you. "Listen," he sighed, "I wanted to apologize for before. I shouldn't have said what I did."

"It's alright. I shouldn't have nagged you like that. I know you're strong, I just didn't like you getting hurt."

"I know, I'm shouldn't have been so reckless." He looked up and blinked. "Are you crying?"

"What?" You lifted your hand to your face and felt that your cheeks were wet. "I hadn't noticed."

He walked over to the bed and sat on the edge of it next to your hip. "What happened? This isn't from what I said is it?" His eyes bored into yours and you saw the concern reflected in them as well as a growing guilt.

You shook your head, rubbing the remaining tears from your eyes. "No that's not it." You looked at him. "I was thinking about my parents and the night they died."

Dick frowned, also remembering the night. "We should have got there sooner. Then you could have continued your normal life." He gripped the sheets of your bed tightly.

"Dick," you put your hand over his, "please don't. I'll admit I miss my parents terribly and I wish I could see them again." Dick flinched, but you squeezed his hand. "But I don't regret meeting you and Bruce. You both have been so kind to me and you took me in when I had no where else to go. I'm happy I met you two, please don't blame yourself. I don't and I never will."

"Still," Dick turned his hand so he could squeeze your hand back, "I'm going to get stronger (Name). Strong enough that I can protect you from anything."

You felt your cheeks grow warm. "Dick."

"I won't let anything hurt you again (Name)." He placed his free hand on your cheek, his thumb gently stroking the skin there. "I'll do everything and anything to keep you safe."

You placed your hand over his on your cheek. "I rather you promise to be more careful. What would hurt me the most, would be losing you."

Dick chuckled a bit. "I guess I better be more careful if I want to keep that promise to you."

You giggled. "That's what I wanted to hear."

"Now that we came to an agreement, we should seal it."

"How?"

Dick leaned closer to you, making your cheeks burn. "Like this." He leaned in and his lips pressed against yours. Slowly your eyes slid closed and you shyly kissed him back. His hand moved from your cheek to your waist, pulling you close as he kissed you. All too soon, he pulled back and grinned when he saw your flushed face. "How was that?"

"P-perfect." You stuttered, lifting your hand and touching your lips gently, still feeling the warmth from his kiss.

"Don't worry. There'll be plenty more of that." Dick teased before he pulled you close. "We have plenty of time for a lot more."

You leaned against him. "I'm looking forward to that."

Dick's hand played with your shirt. "We could start now." His hand slid under your shirt.

You jumped, causing Dick to chuckle, and you punched his arm. "That was mean."

"I couldn't help myself, you're too cute." He pulled you close and kissed your hair.

"Try that again and I'll tell Bruce on you." You said in a sing-song voice grinning.

Dick stiffened next to you. "Now that's truly mean."

You giggled. "Serves you right." He grinned and tickled you. You yelped and wiggled to escape, but he wasn't going to let you go. Now or ever.

You might have lost your parents that night, but you had gained something as well. You had a home here. It might be crazy and even dangerous at times, but you wouldn't change it for the world. There was no where you would rather be than right here, wrapped in the arms of your Boy Wonder.
