UryuxReader: Pride of the Quincy Part 28

Kenpachi and the rest of Squad 11 led your group towards the tower, which was probably a bad idea because Yachiru has led you to three dead ends so far. Chad, Orihime and Ganju followed behind them. Ganju grumbling about one thing or another, Orihime was chatting happily with Chad, who nodded every now and then. You and Uryu were bringing up the rear.  

“So you used up your power to beat Mayuri.” You said after Uryu told you what happened in his fight.

“Yes.” Uryu glanced down at his glove. You noticed that the spike like things on the glove were gone. “I used my master’s last resort.”

“But you won.” You looked over to the side. “I was worried about you when I was dragged off.”

Uryu blinked. “You didn’t think I would win?”

You turned quickly to face him. “That’s not it!” You looked down at the ground. “I was just worried that you would get hurt badly.” You sighed. “I almost died in my own battle and the last thing I thought of was the fact I couldn’t say goodbye to you,” you blushed and quickly added, “and everyone else, of course!”

Uryu’s eyes softened. “(Name).”

“Hey you two lovebirds!” Makizo yelled. “Pick up the pace!”  Everyone looked back at you and Uryu for a moment before they turned back forward, a few of them smiling.

You growled. “Makizo! I’m going to kill you!” A fire ball appeared in your hand, it seemed you’ve regained some power. Makizo yelped before running ahead of the group. “Yeah you better run away!”

“Lovebirds?” Uryu questioned raising an eyebrow.  

You felt your cheeks grow warm again. “Makizo thought we were together,” Uryu’s own cheeks became red, “I explained that we weren’t, but, well, he doesn’t believe me.”  

“Oh, that’s interesting.”

“I’m sorry if it makes you uncomfortable Uryu.”

Uryu shakes his head. “It’s alright. It’s just one Soul Reapers idea.” Uryu mumbled. “A true idea.”

You titled your head. “What was that Uryu?”

Uryu looked away. “Oh nothing. So, um, you said you almost died in your fight, I take it he was tough.”

You nodded ignoring Uryu’s quick subject change. “Captain Hitsugaya was really strong. I almost died once he activated his bankai.” You touched the fire orb.  “If it wasn’t for Mimi I would have died.”

“Who’s Mimi? I’d like to thank her for saving you.”

You held up your fire orb. “Mimi’s in here.” Uryu stared at you. “Don’t give that look.  Mimi is the guardian of all the fire dancers throughout the years. Her realm exists inside this orb.”

“Really?” Uryu gently rested his index finger on the orb. “Then thank you Mimi for protecting (Name).”

“You are very welcome.” Mimi’s voice whispered to you and Uryu. Uryu yelped, jumping back.  

Everyone turned to look at him, but you just waved them off. “Sorry I accidentally burned him.” They looked at you for a moment before they turned back around. You looked over at Uryu with a smirk. “Do you believe me now?”

Uryu rubbed the back of his head. “Yes, sorry for not believing you.”

“It’s okay; just don’t let it happen again.” You stroked the fire orb. “Thank you Mimi.”

“You’re welcome my dear. I very much enjoyed that.” Mimi answered. You smiled letting the fire orb rest on your torso again.

Kenpachi stopped short suddenly. “Sneaking around. Why, you ought to be ashamed. Show yourselves. Captains shouldn’t go around disguising their spiritual pressure.”

“You’ve got a big mouth.”

“Do you realize what you’re doing?” Four Soul Reapers then appeared on the roof top in front of you. Two were captains and two were lieutenants. Looks like it wasn’t going to be an easy trip to the tower. You just hoped you’d get there in time.
