UryuxReader: Pride of the Quincy Part 32

“That’s Ichigo!” You hear someone exclaim as you broke though a bunch of trees. “(Name)!” You looked up and saw Uryu and the others.

You smiled. “You guys made it.”

“Are you okay?” Uryu asked noticing that your shirt and arms had burn marks on them from the firebird’s flame.  

“I’m fine, this is nothing.”

“Why are you running this way (Name)?” Orihime asked. “What happened?”

“Ichigo’s fighting Byakuya.”Chad and Orihime gave you blank looks, they didn’t know him. “He’s a captain. Anyway Rukia’s been saved, she’s with a friend of hers, Renji.”

“Renji?” Uryu asked raising an eyebrow. “Didn’t he come to the living world with Byakuya?”

“Yes.  I don’t know all the details, but he’s on our side now. I was about to catch up with them. Renji might need some help.”

“I’ll come with you.” Uryu said as he stepped forward.

“Are you sure Uryu? Do you feel well enough for the run?”  

“Orihime gained some power back and was able to heal our major wounds.” Uryu explained.

You nodded and looked over at the other three. “What about you guys?”

“I’m going to stay here.” Orihime said gripping onto her shirt tightly. “Ichigo might need me to heal him, when his fights finished.”

“I’ll stay here and make sure no one attacks her.” Chad added.

“I’ll stay here too.” Ganju said as he hit his chest. “If Ichigo loses I’ll take over.”

“We better hope Ichigo wins then.” You mumbled under your breath.

“What was that?!”

“You’re all crazy!” Makizo yelled. “Why are you all doing this? For just one person.”

You scoffed. “That’s easy. Rukia’s our friend and she means the most to Ichigo because she changed his life.” You turned to Uryu. “Looks like it’s just you and me Uryu. Are you ready?"

Uryu nodded. “Yes let’s go.”

You looked back at the others. “We’ll see you guys later.” You turned and ran off with Uryu following by your side.

“That firebird,” Uryu said suddenly, “that’s what caused the burns. You stopped it from attacking.”

You smiled. “You’re too smart Uryu.”

Uryu pushed his glasses up and you noticed a faint pink on his cheeks. “It wasn’t that hard to figure out.”

“Maybe for you, but the others didn’t notice.”

Uryu rubbed the back of his head. “Well, are you really alright?”

“Yes I’m fine. It hurt when I stopped the firebird, but it’s okay now.” You rested a hand on your chest. “The flames have calmed down.”  

“That’s good.”

You felt your smile grew. “Thanks for worrying about me Uryu.”

Uryu cheeks got redder. “You’re welcome. I wish I could have seen you stop the firebird. I bet it was quite impressive, your ability usually is.”

You felt your own cheeks get warm. “Sorry you missed it, it was a good show.” You giggled. “Two Soul Reapers tried to attack me, but before they could their clothes caught on fire. They flipped out trying to put it out.”

Uryu chucked. “I wish I had seen the show more now. I would have loved to see that.”

You looked forward as you sensed two familiar energies. “Renji and Rukia are up ahead.  You okay if we speed up Uryu?”

“I can handle that.”

“Alright. Let’s go.” You and Uryu sped up heading towards the two Soul Reapers.  You had a feeling this was far from over.
